I just watched the best talk... I think ever
http://g4tv.com/videos/44277/DICE-2010-Design-Outside-the-Box-Presentation/There’s nothing more to be said. Other than ex-Imagineers are effing awesome. Definitely watch it til the end, big finish. Posted via email from Thom’s posterous | Comment »
The Future: Good or Bad
AR demo by grad student Keiichi Masuda. I’m at both frightened and excited (kind of like a murder boner). Posted via email from Thom’s posterous | Comment »
Notebook Wars: Flash
Will Apple win the Notebook wars solely by means of dominant branding? It’s hard to see another reason they’ll be able to. So much of the web (ESPN.com, YouTube, Porno) uses Flash, I don’t see how you can market a device that pretends you can have a good web browsing while ignoring all that content. Wham City! Doc
http://www.babelgum.com/4025663/vice-versus-wham-city.htmlOne of the more straight forward looks at my former city’s proud art collective. Just for the record, they’re as crazy as they come off. Crazy Kool! Posted via email from Thom’s posterous | Comment »
Interactive Projection, What?!
It reminds me of Fallon’s Travels Airport Piece (first appeared in Minneapolis, it’s still up in Hartford, CT). Love the idea of responsive projection technology. Too bad any ad will be compared to the Fallon thing. Being first has it’s advantages; even if a particular execution, while elegant, kind of lacks any insight. Posted via email from Thom’s...
I Love Ad School
Few places make it possible for you to dress your friends like historical figures, then have them reenact that six minute fight scene from They Live (if you haven’t ever seen that movie, definitely check it out). Having them fight wasn’t the idea for the ad we were making, but we couldn’t let the opportunity pass us by. Bethany Hall and I did this photo shoot for BBC.co.uk....
Cursed Japanese Kleenex Ads Are Awesome
Watch at your own risk. In the mid 1980s this ad spurred a ton of urban legends after it first aired. Specifically, it was said that everyone involved in the production of the spot died ‘under suspicious circumstances,’ that is except for the women who appears in it. She merely gave birth to a demon child soon after shooting. People also claimed that the song sounded different at...
A Home For Jason's Friend
I made this to host Jason’s Mustachioed Monsieur. Mmmm… olive home… Posted via email from Thom’s posterous | Comment »
The (back-to-the) Future (part II) Is Now
Grad Student Julia Yu Tsao’s proposed display product/design experiment just blew my mind. I’m not going to pretend to know what advertising’s going to look like in the future, just rest assured it’s going to look different. Fully immersive display, interactivity and 3D are going to continue to evolve and become part of the world in which we live. We just have to be wiling...
Have you seen this tree rodent?
I was driving to Kramarczuk’s after class last Saturday with my buddy Brian when a light started blinking on my dashboard. I wasn’t too worried about it until I looked in my manual and found out there was probably an issue with my Automatic Transmission. Now, I don’t know much about cars, but I’ve heard that if you like money or don’t have much of it, you...
Who says the '90s sucked?
Sure there was an AIDS epidemic, and woman clothes that we slightly less revealing than a burka, but you had some of the baddest groove to dance to in history. And not to mention Russell Simmons ‘Def Comedy was still underground enough in ‘91 that white people were freaking going for it on the dance floor. Link courtesy of our friends at Butterteam (I need to find a better way to...

Prepare for... controversy
Part of my morning routine since I no longer live with my fiancee involves getting dressed and pretty with ESPN on in the background. This morning I was treated to a barrage of half baked opinions from a half dozen talking heads about a print ad for Nike that appeared in last month’s ESPN the Magazine and Sports Illustrated. The piece featured Kobe Bryant and LeBron James (professional...
Die Antwoord: South Africa's best, new, white...
I had to do some digging before I could even figure out what the accent was (my first guess was they were first gen Ukrainian immigrants to Manchester). Turns out it’s a band called Die Antwoord, which is Afrikaans for ‘the answer.’ Q: answer to what? A: whatever man. They have an awesome website and a great look. Their album drops sometime this February. An American tour might...
Patrick Wolf is too much
He’s like a goof-ball fopish Lady Gaga in the body of a prepubescent, bi-curious Brit. Still doesn’t mean I’m not fascinated. I assume his popularity is among the teenaged emo set, and that’s cool. His over-the-top style and Morrissey-esque confused sexuality (however in Wolf’s case I think it’s he’s overly sexed-out, whereas Morrissey has often claimed to...
My First Blog Post
I guess all the social media I’ve participated in up until now (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr) was just pre-posterous! Hahaha. Get it? Posted via email from Thomas’s posterous | Comment »

Have to watch the video of this four-year-old freak out after seeing a lobster for the first time. Reminds me of Teddy freaking out at the Oceanaire over the weekend
The Peach Commercial: I was given about 4 minutes of footage to edit into any commercial I wanted
